The North End is home to Italian restaurants and historic architecture. However, its Black history has long stayed in the shadows.

Roberto Mighty, a local award-winning filmmaker and multimedia artist, is working to change that narrative. His recent multimedia creation, “We Were Here Too,” depicts a forgotten Black community in the North End — New Guinea, who were the first Africans to make the neighborhood home.
