Campaign Seeks Legal Defense Fund for Immigrants

A local nonprofit is pressing Massachusetts lawmakers to retain funding for an immigrant legal defense fund in the state budget, which is expected to pass early next month.

Officials at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition said the money is critical now more than ever as the Trump administration accelerates its wide sweeping arrests and deportations of immigrants in the country.
