NEHSJC Grant Program

Opening the door to the future

As alums of NEHSJC will tell you, this program doesn’t leave you just because you leave the program. After nearly four decades of serving historically excluded students in the active practice of journalism, we have grown beyond our annual workshop. Any graduate of this program who sees a creative next step in their future as a professional journalist (writer, editor, photographer, videographer, etc.) is invited to apply for financial support through our “Going Forward” grant program.

This support might come in the form of a stipend, project cost, conference fee, special training, writing or other communication, media, or journalistic opportunity.

Granting begins each January 1 with a $5,000 annual maximum, although smaller requests will allow more grant recipients. We have a rolling deadline with closure each year if/when $5,000 is reached. The award(s) begin each January with consideration of new grant requests only (no re-granting). Grants are given to a 501(c)3 sponsor of the alum’s choice, and then distributed as the alum awardee directs.

If $5,000 is dispensed before the end of the calendar year, the web page will note the completion of award(s). Subsequent applicants will be encouraged to try again the next year. You may apply now by downloading the application below. When your application is completed, revisit this page to upload the completed application to our selection committee. Thanks, in advance, for considering this initiative. For more information contact, annmoritz@comcast.net with Going Forward in the Subject line.

Sincerely,

The Remick Foundation and the NEHSJC Board of Trustees
